Want versus need

Want : wants to work something unrelated to pharmacy, since it's gonna be all my life doing something related to pharmacy, and this is my only chance to do something which is not related. Or not, how else am I suppose to work something not related? The only way is to waste my degree and do what I like, in which many will find me wasting my time, energy, effort and money.

Need : Needs to have experience in pharmacy related job to improve my knowledge regarding something related, or even getting a better resume as I can actually add that I've done something related to pharmacy during the time when I was waiting for my posting. (to kinda prove that I'm so committed to be a dedicated pharmacist) However, it doesn't mean that I like what I do and I do what I like.

SO...

Do I follow what I WANT, or what I NEED?

I've been thinking of this for the past 12 hours. I've applied both jobs, one would be pharmacist assistant, RM5 per hour, working extended hours..even if it's full time, it would be only RM 1k +. Another would be again, working at the bar, RM6 per hour, 3-4 days a week and no extended hours.

I had to weigh in the pros and cons for both, and it certainly caught me into dilemma.

Well, many of my friends/family told me to go for the pharmacy related thing, but my heart is not there... well don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I hated my job so much so that I despise the experience that they are offering me, or not I wouldn't have applied for the job at the first place but the thing is, firstly, I'm going to become a pharmacist for all my life, and secondly, the long hours of 930am to 10pm and RM5 per hour only made my heart sank..

And, RM6 per hour as a bar person, may not make much difference but at least, it's something that I had experience on, shorter hours, higher pay and something that I don't mind doing.

With all the debates and rebutting both of my dilemmas in my head...

I've finally concluded that, I may, choose that I want instead of what I need.

Besides, it's a sure thing that I'll get my job in the government, don't even have to hand in a real resume to them.

Talking about getting into NUS to study and such, I realised that I'm just doing it for the sake of my satisfaction of completion. Yes, though I have completed my degree, but in my mind, only a PhD can fulfill my satisfaction. That, its not really my main priority though. And now I understood myself better. Mmm. Do I?

It sucks to be me, and it sucks to understand me.
